As part of our effort to help the environment, Toys-UK.co.uk is happy to offer all our customers free recycling of all previously purchased electrical and electronic goods. Unwanted electrical equipment is the UK's fastest growing type of waste, and sending it to landfill causes lead and other toxins to leak out and cause soil and water contamination, harming wildlife and human health. Fortunately, many electrical items can now be repaired or recycled. That’s why we’re offering free recycling on a like-for-like basis so when you buy a new item from us, we will make sure your old model is recycled appropriately. If you’re not sure whether your electrical item can be recycled, have a look for the crossed out wheelie bin symbol (Below) on the packaging, or on the item itself. If the symbol appears on the replacement item, this is also an indication that the old model should be recycled.
The Waste Electrical or Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive requires countries to maximise separate collection and environmentally friendly processing of waste electrical items. In the UK, that means retailers like Toys-UK.co.uk must offer all customers buying new equipment a free take back for their old electrical items.
What does this mean?
Toys-UK.co.uk is obliged under these regulations to offer our customers a free take-back of their WEEE on a like-for-like basis when they buy a new Electrical or Electronic product from us. For example if you purchase a remote control car we can then take back another remote control car free of charge. This is not an exchange i.e. The newly purchased item's price will not be discounted by the value of the old product. You must return the WEEE item to us within 28 days of purchasing your new item. You may return your WEEE item to us via post (postal charges will apply) or in store at any one of our Toys-UK Shops.
